IE7 keeps resetting homepage

hi,

i bought my new computer in january with the latest XP Media edition on it.
its worked just fine and i have all the latest updates.

however i used stupid firefox and its latest update disabled java which in
turn stopped IE7 working.

One of things I did was reset all the settings: Tools>Internet
options>Advanced and I clicked both 'Reset' and 'Restore Advanced Settings'.
Neither made a difference.

I have now managed to get latest Java for Windows back, and IE7 is now
working but now IE7 insists on its homepage being
http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll?prd=ie&clcid=0x809&pver=6.0&ar=home
which keeps redirecting me to www.msn.com

its getting really annoying, i change it to www.yahoo.co.uk and i press the
homepage button and amazingly it goes back to www.msn.com

i'm pretty sure its an IE problem and not a virus caused problem
