Windows ME and IE6.0 error problem "Can't find server Error" ????

Running a Sony VAIO Laptop with Windows ME and IE5.5....

Can't open java pages...

So

Upgraded IE to v6.

Now can't open anything..

No, virurs, ran McKafee's Stringer...Connectivity OK by checking ping and ipconfig @ DOS prompt

Error message on page properities Can't find server is

Any ideas?

Open the Internet Options applet in Control Panel
Uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions" on the Advanced tab.

Then eliminate any scumware.
