IE6 wont load any pages

I reset my web settings to default, and have an internet
connection specified - tho it wont actually load any web
pages - i have installed mozilla, but prefer to only use
one web browser for convenience.
any information why this is happenning? what is the best
option for resetting everything from scratch, and
reinstalling IE6?
(i dont want to format my hard drive)
