IE6 will not run at all for one users' account...

I searched through a number of postings and haven't come across one dealing
with this so I hope I'm not duplicating here. I have 4 separate user
accounts on my home system (XP-Pro SP2) and as of 2 days ago, one of the
accounts completely lost IE-6 functionality. No error msg., no nothing.
Clicking the 'Big E' just sends the hourglass spinning for a few secs. and
then nothing. I've checked the IE settings, dumped all the temp files,
cleared history, run several Ad-Aware scans, Anti-Virus scans, etc. The one
unique thing I've found is that the 'Home Page' listed in IE settings (for
the malfunctioning account) appears like encrypted code, not a text URL. I
found this going through /Control Panel/Security Settings/Internet Options,
as I can't actually open IE while logged on as that user. Has anyone run
into anything like this? The other 3 accounts are all working fine. Should
I just dump this users' profile and have them start over? Any words of
wisdom would be appreciated.

Hi Mine Runner :)

1. Have you tried to reset the home page to something else?

2. Have you tried to open IE using another access, say, from the Start menu
Icon?

3. Cannot open Internet Explorer from a limited user account in Windows XP
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFAQ.htm#limited

4. Do you have any 3rd party toolbars installed, such as Google, Yahoo or
MSN toolbars, Yahoo Companion. If so, disable the toolbars to test and
uninstall the Yahoo Companion a it is well known to cause this kind of
problem.

5. Try disabling add-ons from Control Panel> Internet Options> Programs>
Manage
add-ons. An add-on may be causing this.
Next... See if IE opens in the user account from a Safe Mode with Networking
startup.

If IE opens from Safe Mode, you need to find the third-party program,
toolbar, add-on, etc. that's causing the problem.

Disable (for diagnostic purposes) programs such as pop-up blockers,
security, toolbars and other add-ons for IE, anti-virus, etc. Take a look at
any program that might be interfering with IE. You may have to reconfigure,
reinstall, or not reinstall, a program. Turn on the Windows Firewall (from
Control Panel or Security Center) before disabling a third-party firewall.

6. It ise also possible that it is being cause by some form or malware

Be aware, your Anti-Virus won't detect all types of warez, Trojans, malware,
worms, etc and neither can other adware or spyware related programs such as
AdAware and SpyBot. They don't have the proper definitions. So even if you
run it and nothing shows up, it does not mean your system is clean. It
takes a series of programs to fully clean your machine. Some very aggressive
and damaging variants of malware can replicate themselves repeatedly, or
mutate, if not removed properly. Follow the steps here:
