IE6 running too slow

R

I Have IE6 on a XP Pro platform. This week it started
running too slow to work well. I frequently take several
min. to download pages that last week I got in secs. Many
times when going to sites I know are up and running (ie
YAHOO, GOOGLE) I get a page not found or unable to
connect message. Other times i get a "request time out"
error message.

I have spent several hours searching the KB (caused
mostly be the very slow IE 6, not because I looked at
thousands og pages) and can not find anything that helps.

Suggestions?

First eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
