HELP: VERY slow web page loading using IE6

Over the past few weeks I've noticed that web pages being loaded via IE6
are excrutiatingly slow. On some web pages I even get a "Done" message
at the bottom - however the web page may not appear until at least a
minute later :-(. Other, even slower systems connected to the same
connection (via Wireless cards), don't exhibit this problem.

Any suggestions/help on what I can do to fix the problem?

Some relevant details....

System is running Windows XP & IE6

I have run both SpyBot & virus scan and they run clean. Thx.

Spybot S & D won't catch everything.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
