IE6 not connecting to the internet

We have one pc that will not connect to the internet. I can ping an address
such as "www.microsoft.com" withought a problem, and doing nslookups work
just fine. But Internet Explorer will not find any page. Except for a
router on our LAN with web-based admin. I have checked all network, and
IE settings, and they seem identical to our other PCs. This PC originaly
had Win98 and the same problem. I have since upgraded it to WinXP, but the
problem persists. I have also reinstalled IE6. The PC connects to the LAN
without any problems. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

That setting is correct. I installed Mozilla and it is not working either.
So I am thinking it has to be in the network settings, and has nothing to do
with the browser. The thing I don't understand is that I can ping a "name"
and get a response. Also, if I use the ip address of a site, I still cannot
get to it.

Try removing all/any dialup connections and check your
LAN settings in IE options. Uncheck all the options and
restart the computer. If its possible, try resetting the
router together with the computer.
