IE6 javascript

I have IE6, SP 1, XP SP1a
I'm having trouble running some things that start with
javascript.
Ex.=some videos and click on polls on cbs.com will not
work. Some
others will. The page will load with the message "some
page errors".
I found a patch from MS that seemed to address the issue
but when
I tried it, it said I need SP 1 to use it. When I try to
install SP1 it
says
I already have it. Frustrating. I use Norton AV and
firewall and have
tried tried disabling them but that does not help. I
tried Opera as a
browser and had the same problems. I have since un-
installed
Opera. I know java and javascript are different, but I do
have Java
installed on the system. Any suggestions would be
appreciated.

1. You might want to refresh your scripting engine:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/nhp/default.asp?contentid=28001169
or
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/webdev.asp
Windows Script 5.6 for Windows 2000 and XP
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...43-7e4b-4622-86eb-95a22b832caa&DisplayLang=en

Sometimes there's a corrupt file in the cache and one must go to Tools |
Internet Options and click Delete Files.

2a. Start>Run>Regsvr32 vbscript.dll

2b. Start>Run>Regsvr32 jscript.dll

(WinXP users who have problems with 2a and 2b, see
http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers_9.htm)

3. Re-register all DLLs listed in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679

4a. IE Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Browsing>Enable third-party browser
extensions (uncheck & reboot).

4b. Find the hijacker that caused 4a to be checked (or if none were checked,
check for hijackware anyway):

Hi Frank, Thanks for the solutions, I too have some
issues with javascript errors in IE6.
I've taken steps 1 through 4 (a's & b's)including
checking for any hijacking, none was found, however the
problem still persists I have checked that I have the
latest Java version too.

The error occurs on the following website.
http://www.manutd.com/home/default.sps
When I hold the mouse over the log in button the
following message is listed in the bottom of the window.
javascript:void(null);
When I click on the link - nothing happens.
I am running IE6 Version 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2030422-1633
I also have Norton internet security running.
under the advanced options 3rd party browser extensions
us unchecked.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

Rich
