IE6 creates secret folder to store temp file?

My friend complains that she received a doc file via gmail, edited it, saved
it, and then could not find the file again.

To figure this out, I send myself a .doc file to my gmail account. I log in
gmail using IE6, open the mail, click download (attachment), then click open
(I did not explicitly save the file).

Word opens the file, I used save as... to figure out where the file is and
foud it in

Local Disk (C
documents and settings
peter
Local Settings
Temporary internet files
Content.IE5
T23HMKW5

Strangely, when I use file explorer outside of word I found that Temporary
internet files is the bottomost level I can get to. There is no Content.IE5
folder. Also, using the same "save as..." dialog, if I navigate up to
Temporary internet files, I cannot go back down to content.IE5 (no such
folder) either.

I found the files by searching for all .doc files on disk C and found a
shortcut pointing to that file in the secret folder.

Still, I would like to know what else I have to do to be able to see the
content.IE5 and the T23HMKW5 secret folders inside windows explorer.

Don't open the DOC attachment, Save it to your HDD, then open, edit, and
Save it.
