Try the following and see if it helps:
Click on Tools>Internet Options>Connections tab
Put a check by "Dial whenever a connection is not present"
Click Apply and OK out.
Close IE
If you leave your Internet connection running for lengthy periods, some
Internet service providers (ISP's) drop connections if there is no activity
on the account.
Also...try unplugging the modem for about 5 minutes, then plug it back in
and see if that helps.
