IE6 Closes Down On Some Sites

Cliff

I have IE6 with SP2 and lately when I click on a link to some sites from
Outlook Express an error message comes up saying IE is closing down and to
send an error report. I have tried copying the link and pasting into the
address bar with the same result so it isn't OE, I have uninstalled and
reinstalled SP2 - no change, I say random sites but it is always the same
sites, I subscribe to various survey sites and competition sites (one site
is Vernons online lottery site). I tried a site after uninstalling SP2 and
it worked but not after reinstalling SP2. Any ideas.

Thanks
Cliff

Hi,
You didn't post a URL, but google found this http://www.vernons.co.uk/ That
page is heavy on javascript, so here are some possibilities:
Go to Internet Options> Security> Internet Zone, set it to Default.

Clear the IE cache. IE> Tools> Internet Options> General> Delete
files (and delete offline content when that dialog pops up) It's often
recommended that the TIF folder be kept at about 50 MB (Settings.)

Try these two commands from Start> Run. Hit [enter] after each.
regsvr32 vbscript.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll

Reinstall the JavaScript engine. Go to
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/webdev.asp
for the appropriate download.

Check any third-party security programs to see if one of them is blocking
scripts, scripting, active content.

If these steps don't help, please post back. Specific URLs which are
troublesome would be useful information.

Hope this helps,
Don

Thanks for the help but unfortunately no joy, Vernons was only an example
and it is probably my system that is at fault not the site as I seem to be
able to access the sites if I uninstall SP2, maybe I will try uninstalling
and reinstalling XP2 again.

Thanks again
