IE6 child window does not load!

The problem occurs when I click on a hyperlink that
launches a new IE window --or-- when I fork off a new
window, the hild window does not load anything, so I hit
ESC, right-click on the window and click refresh to get
what's on that new window.

This problem has also stopped me from being able to
update Windows XP. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Can anyone offer a solution?

can you log into secure sites?...sites that require a

Yes, I can. I log into my company's Exchange server via
https using IE.
