IE won't open html, but instead prompts me to save them

Using IE 6 xpsp2. I've tweaked some registry values/keys by mistake and now
IE will prompt me to open all web pages, they are detected as unknown file
type.

What should I do to fix this problem? By the way, even my Internet Options,
About and everything else can't open. Though, no such problems with Mozilla
Firefox that I'm using to post this.

I was trying to fix this, but I was shocked when I can't access
"HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\htmlfile", "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.htm" and
"HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.html", error while opening key. Access is denied to
change the permissions too, although I'm using an administrator account.
These are some of the keys I've changed. Other unmodified keys open up well,
is it because of a different account being used?

Note:
I think this problem is not so serious when I'm using my own account. Using
my account the only problems I have are:
1. IE prompts to save web pages opened from external links
2. IE prompts to save home page (loaded automatically on IE start)
However, when I type the URL in by myself (in browser) it works fine.

Ask me if you need more info or if you don't understand my question.

Try a system restore to a date before you made the registry changes.

I have actually found the way to correct this.

I found out my ".htm" and ".html" "(Default Value)" being set to
"FirefoxHTML". So I changed it back to "htmlfile" and with some other tweaks
I managed to get everything working fine now.

So, now Firefox is my default browser and IE works fine too. Hope this can
be a reference for others facing the same problems.

Note: It's not very easy, though. I don't think you can get it corrected
this way because I forgot most of the steps I've done. But the keys changed
are none other than ".htm", ".html", "htmlfile" and "FirefoxHTML" in
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.
