IE with XP Pro

I have just converted from 98 to XP Profesoinal. When
using Internet Explorer as my browser, I sometimes get a
box, with a small box in the top left corner, and a red
cross in the small box. This occurs where a picture
should appear.

This never happened when I was running 98, and it does not
always happen.

What is wrong, and how can I ensure that pictures get
shown?

Any help would be appreciated.

Clear the IE cache. I.E./Tools/Options/General/Delete files (and delete
offline content.) It's often recommended that the Temporary Internet Files
(folder) be kept at
40-50 MB. Bigger isn't necessarily better.

Try this:
Download the Java Virtual Machine from Sun of Microsoft
website. Go to Internet option, Advanced and make sure the
Virtual Machine is enabled.
