Ie updating itself for 98 user?

I noticed two request from my firewall to allow the internet explorer
to update.

Is this a hint of service pack 3 or a new browser for older operating
systems?

Nothing found by spybot, adaware, avg virus

Internet Explorer Tools menu> Internet Options> Advanced tab:
Under the Browsing heading, do you have a check in the box for "Automatically check
for Internet Explorer updates"?
