Since you are using a beta program, all bets are off. Post your question
in the newsgroup specifically for the beta IE7:

microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

In case there was any question, "beta" means software that isn't
finished and is still in the bug-checking phase. Beta software should
never be run on a production machine or on any machine which you are
unwilling to wipe.

This response is a little unsatisfactory... this problem can definitely be
solved without wiping the drive. Basically, the wininet.dll in
Windows\System32 needs to be overwritten, however, through normal channels
and even cmd prompt, I have not yet found a way. Any other suggestions?

I didn't say the problem would be solved by wiping the drive. Read my post
again more carefully. I said:

That is considered best practice for testing beta programs. Basically, it
means you shouldn't put beta software on your main production computer and
be aware that beta programs can hose everything. Have your stuff imaged or
use a spare hard drive, but understand what running beta software really
means.

I also gave you (or the OP if you are not the OP) the correct newsgroup to
which to post questions about the beta IE7 program. I never addressed the
original question because I haven't used IE7 outside of some Vista
installs. The experts in the correct newsgroup are the ones who will know.

Again, here is the correct newsgroup for questions/comments about IE7:

microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

Hope that clarified things for you.
