Entry Point Not Found?

Hi earlier today i uninstalled XP service pack 2, when i restarted the comp
it is all going fine, but now when i try to sign in to msn i get this messege
( "msmsgs.ex -Entry point not found" the procedure entry point
internetgetsecurityinfobyURLW could not be located in the dynamic link
library WININET.dll. ) please help me because as soon as this appears msn
closes, this also applies to xfire, please help soon!

in basically everything, my help and support center wont even work, this is

Hello Tony...

I dont see a exact fix for your problem... Any way have u tried to reinstall
or upgrade MSN Messenger. If not try that first. Moreover what version of
Messenger u use?

Hi thanx for responding, I'm using Windows live messenger the newest one. As
i said before it is not just messenger, a similiar messege comes up with help
and support center, xfire, steam, webroot spysweeper, basically anything
which is accessing the net. it always has this after it "the procedure entry
point
internetgetsecurityinfobyURLW could not be located in the dynamic link
library WININET.dll." after every messege no matter which program it is.

If you r getting same message for multiple programs.. must be system files
corruption. you can try a repair install with winodws XP CD.

Before that you can try safe mode options. If it works in safe mode do a
clean boot

- Start -> Run -> Type MSCONFIG
- Selctive start up -> uncheck startup items
- Services tab -> Hid all MS services -> Disable All
- Apply -> Close -> Restart

Entry point errors almost always are the result of miss-matched EXE/DLL
files. You obviously have a number of programs that require SP2's version
of WININET.DLL. You could try to simply get the latest version of
WININET.DLL from some other source (Google it?) or reinstall SP2. Note that
the first solution may not work since you will have a miss-match between the
new DLL and the rest of Windows XP SP1.

Sorry one last question, I have my cd but how do I repair Xp with it, also
will all my files e.g. words documents, games, still be there afterwards?

The repair install will not delete any of the files or programs.

TO do repair..

--> Boot from the Windows XP CD
--> On the "Welcome to Setup" screen Press Enter
--> Then Agree to Licen agreement by hitting F8 key
--> Then it will search for Installed OS and it will ask you whether do you
want to repair this OS, if you get that screen press 'R' and follow the on
screen instructions.
--> If you dont get that screen press F3 and Quit the setup.

NOTE: If you are asked to create a new user account dont give anything, skip
that by clicking SKIP on the bottom screen.

If you cannot do all these do an In-Palce Upgrade, as per the article,
