IE icon problem

On the address window, a small icon alway appears with the web
address. Many address have their own icon instead of using the
default icon of IE; however, IE does not seem to recognize other
icons. For example: worldnet.att.net has the att globe icon but it
shows as a IE icon. One of my favorite address is "towerhobbies.com".
They have their own icon but IE shows IE icon. Mozilla works
correctly. I have drag and dropped some address from Mozilla to IE to
try and make it work. Some work, some don't. Sometimes, IE reverts
back to the IE icon.
Does anyone know how to make IE show the icon from the address you are
viewing and not the IE icon?
I hope I made myself clear on the problem.
Regards
Gene

Yes- Yes, I am having the same problem, just what I was going to ask about
today. My favorities are many and those 'special' icons help me to navigate,
if not directly then indirectly by other sites position relevent to the
special icons. The latest to go was the sirrius dog, I was so upset. I will
click on the links now.

OK. I have tried both applications and they are both OK.
I have Faviconizer installed at the moment.

Hi Alan,
Thanks for the help but when I looked at the Faviconizer it seems to
be only the source code. Am I not looking in the right place on their
web site? Is there some special way to install it?

Alan- thanks for the help, I installed FavIconizer and it worked great!
My mistake Alan,
I down loaded the demo. That's what I needed. I thought a demo was
only a demo but it is the operating program. Thanks ever so much.

So what I'm wondering is why the favicon is not restored in the favlist and
desktop shortcuts when re-cached by revisiting the web site?

i think favions show only when you create a shortcut. (or use software below)

Favicons are only temporary until cleared from your cache.
To make them permanent:
FavOrg-PCMag: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1558477,00.asp

or

The Code Project - FavIconizer:
http://www.codeproject.com/tools/faviconizer.asp

i think this app processes all URL files.

but favorg allows user to choose to process only certain URLs or folders. it seems to rely on the location of favorites in
registry, but you can temporarily drag folders into favorites if you want these apps to link the URLs to "permanent" favicons.
unfortunately favorg increases size of URL files, so i select only my Links folder for favorg to process.
