IE Hangs for 30 seconds

A couple of times a day I experience a brief hang while running IE6.0. The
cursor freezes and the computer becomes unresponsive for a period of about 30
seconds. The system then becomes alive and all is well for awhile.

I had the Windows Task Manager open and set to the performance tab when this
happened one time. The graph stopped and the CPU utilization froze at the
previous level for the duration of the freeze. When activity resumed,
nothing was recorded during the freeze.

I also suspect that mouse events are being recorded during the freeze. When
the system returns, the cursor jumps in the direction I moved the mouse
during the freeze.

I ran Norton AV as well as a few different Spyware killers such as Spybot
and Xoftspy with no problems reported. I am running IE6.0 under XP MCE with
all the latest updates installed.

Any ideas??

Leave Task Manager open and on top of all other windows. Open the
Processes tab and display the list in order of CPU time. When your
screen freezes, look at Task Manager and see what process is occupying
the CPU.
