Ok this is an odd issue. My computer on Win2000 freezes every thirty
seconds for 5 seconds. It doesnt happen all the time but when it does
it won't stop until I reboot.
I have checked the processes using a utility from sysinternals called
process explorerer and it seems to report that during the freezes (when
the cpu usage spikes (up to around 77 percent) that its during "hardware
interrupts". I have used seagates tools to scan my harddrive for any
problems and none are reported. I have defragged ran just about every
utility i can think of to remove extra services and running programs
etc. Nothing has fixed it. A full virusscan with McAfee's latest
datfiles shows nothing. During the freeze nothing works, screen is not
updated, mouse does not move, etc. This just started happening on
monday after I had left hte computer on for the weekend. When I came in
it was completely frozen so I rebooted and this has happened more often
then not ever since.
Does anyone have any clue how I can fix this?
thanks.
