IE gets hijacked on startup

My internet explorer (6.0) redirects and shuts down each
time I try to start it up. the browser searches for a
site called "origin.midaddle.com" and some others that I
can't capture. If I run with cable modem line
disconnected the browser stops at "Page cannot be
displayed..." but does not shut down.
I have installed the latest live update of Norton
Antivirus 2004 and cleaned all of the spyware and adware
(deleted files, deleted registry entries, etc). The other
computers in the house work ok with the exception of the
constant adware problems that I've grown accustomed to.
My operating system is XP home edition version 2002

On both system remove all the parasites. You may be giving the scumbag a lot
of information you do not want them to see.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

If you use a HOSTS file, beware of this new issue.
Ad-Aware has decided to include a new detection when scanning the HOSTS
file. This now creates a "Bad hosts file entry" in the log file generated at
the end of a scan. The best thing to do is to place a check in each entry,
right-click and select: "Add selection to ignorelist". Otherwise if you let
AWW "fix" these items it will trash the HOSTS file! Even if you have it
"locked" by [example] SpywareBlaster or Winpatrol. It does not return the
attributes and renames the HOSTS file incorrectly to hosts.

Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
