IE Explorer Won't fully load

On a Win 98 system - when I launch IExplorer 6 it partially loads the home
page then receives the error 'unexpectedly quit' etc.The file in question is
the msvcrt.dll.
I ran Ad-Aware and SpyBot. Both found stuff but supposedly cleaned it up.

If I click on the link in the error window I can go to the Microsoft page
and browse around other pages but I always get this message from launching....

As a side note when I launch Ad-Aware it says my definitions are 62 days old
but conecting to the Lavasoft site returns a message that my definitions are
up to date. I'm not sure if this is related!!
