Can't Brower in IE ater Service Pack 2 Update

I have XP and updated to SP2. When I try to browse a page in IE6 a pop up
says "cannot open search page" and then I get that DNS error (can't find
page, check your settings, yada yada).
I pinged several pages and was able to get through. Everytime I restart my
computer, I am able to get to a webpage for a minute and then when I try to
go to another page I get the same error message. I uninstalled the SP2 pack
and my browser works just fine. I scanned my hard drive again using anti
beta, ad aware and norton and found no viruses. Can someone help me with
possible solutions. Thanks

I suspect you have incompatible third-party programs installed.
E.g. something which works with the looser security of base XP
or even XPsp1 but finds itself running into trouble under XPsp2,
(so then the failures and delays would be due to its recovery attempts.)

Malware is does not necessarily carry viruses.
Incompatible programs are not necessarily malware.

Can someone help me with
possible solutions. Thanks

Time to do some fault isolation testing
