IE does not load web sites

After leaning up some spyware using a anti-spyware pgm, IE
now does not load any web sites without http:// infront of
the site name. For instance, www.microsoft.com will result
in "can not page" error but http://www.microsoft.com will
load page just fine. I can't remember where in the
registry IE looks for default (http://). Can anyone help?
