IE crashes and burns since Aug 06 updates

I am running IE 6.0 SP1 under Win2K SP4 on a Compaq Deskpro EN with PIII,
128mb. I installed 8 critical security updates that came in automatically on
8/13/06. Since then, whenever I try to look at YouTube I get: The
instruction at "0x1a41c573" referenced memory at "0x635c8294". The memory
could not be "read". (Always those same references.)
The Microsoft KB only addresses the problem in XP or Server 2003. I deleted
the cache and history as suggested. No good. Most other sites work fine,
unless I try to view a video. It worked like a champ before these blasted
"updates". Any help?

Thanks for the suggestion, which was helpful. However, I found the solution
in another area by coincidence. I had been repeatedly prompted by the
Automatic Update to download and install 832483 even though I had installed
it over a dozen times. I found a KB entry which said I could get the prompt
to stop repeating if I downloaded MDAC 2.8. I did, which stopped the 832483
update prompt as promised, and lo and behold, the IE problem ceased as well.

God (i.e. Microsoft) works in mysterious ways.
