I since reinstalled W98SE (since I made a BIG mistake and
deleted an spyware embedded in IE) and after the
reinstall, I viewed MS critical updates and installed them.
Now, when I log onto the internet, and search a favorite,
my IE crashes. It gives me the error "IE sent the
message, apologizing that it has an error and must shut
down. I sent the error message to MS as directed and
looked at the details, which are:
Applic: IExplore.exe
Modname: msvcrt.dll
Modver: 6.1.8293.0 Offset: 000154a7
AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106
This is the latest IE 6.0 SP1 that I ordered and the
identifying information is listed within the CD.
The only web pages that don't crash are MS Windows, MSN,
and hotmail (MSN). Other than that, it's dead.
Impossible to log onto any web site. In just a matter of
a few seconds, IE crashes. Sometimes it will shut itself
off, other times it will just freeze. Just like looking
at a block wall. I contacted MS help and am still waiting
for a reply. What to do, what to do. Any and all help
and suggestions, will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Lily
