IE and MSN Messenger both persistantly Crashing?!

Hello all,
THanks in advance to all those who help. Well tonight I decided to check my
email in Outlook and it would not open. It kept crashing, telling me it
needed to close. I submitted it to Windohs and it told me it was my Norton
Internet Security, specifically my Norton Anti Spam. So I uninstalled Norton
to see if it would fix it. Upon restart it worked, Outlook that is (to a
point--red X's) but now both my MSN Messenger and IE crash everytime. When I
open my IE, the fonts are all screwed and it cannot display any pictures,
only those evil little red X's, that is it. When I click to go to Windohs
Update, it crashes immediately. I have scanned my PC, got rid of all the
Norton files and restarted many o times but this still persists. Now the red
X's and odd fonts are gone but just the random crashing of IE and the
constant crashing of MSN Messenger still remains.

C:\DOCUME~1\BOBENIS\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER71f4.dir00\appcompat.txt

I am assuming after I uninstalled Norton Internet Security, it deleted some
necessary files or left them incomplete? I am wondering if I can replace them
or fix them? Maybe there are files which are screwed in the registry? Really
odd but I am sure it is tied to Norton in some way. Hope the
above messgae helps you to help me.
Any clues or ideas would be oh so greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Have you tried reinstalling Internet Explorer? If not you might try that.
