IE error message

When I attempt to use Internet Explorer 6 on Win XP home, a dell latitude
with a celeron, I get the following error message and IE never loads.
Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorryfor the inconvenience. if you were in the middle of something, the info
you were workung on may be lost . Error Signature: Event type: In Page Error,
P1: c000009c P2: 00000003
C:\Docume~\user\locals~1\temp\WERfae1.dir00\IEXPLORE.EXE.mdmp
and....\appcompat.txt
