IE 7 - no option / tickbox to save password

I access a website that requires a username & password to login. Normally I
click the save password tick box & then I do not get prompted for username &
password everytime I access the site (site is in intranet site settings &
autologon is allowed in intranet)

problem is the tick box with the "save password" option does not appear in
the login box. O/s Is windows XP home. ANy ideas how to get this tick box
back ?

Many sites, especially financial sites, do not allow the password to be
saved.

Here are two options you can try one at a time:
1= Click Start >> Double click Control Panel >> Double click Network and
Internet Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
click on Content Tab, click Autocomplete Button then see these check boxes:
Use Autocomplete for:
[√] Web addresses
[ ] Forms
[√] User names and passwords on forms
[ √] Prompt me to save passwords <= this your ultimate goal in fact.

Click [OK] after you finish then [OK] again to close the IE properties.
Does it help?.

Restore IE AutoComplete Password Prompt (Line 13)

Sadly neither of these solutions worked. the site I am connecting to is a
sharepoint site that everyone accesses & is able to save their passwords with
no problems. There is no server side restriction on saving passwords.
