IE 6 (XP/2003) file associations -- where to change

I have QuickTime associated with MP3 files in IE 6 but NOT
in regular Windows (or Windows Explorer) where WinAmp
is chosen.

Need: Change MP3 files to be played by WinAmp or even
Windows Media Player.

I thought this setting was in the Tools->Options->somewhere
(didn't it used to be there) but cannot no find it?

Registry setting?

So far my Google searches haven't found the magic spot.

Thanks.

Hows about here:
Respective to your operating system, the possible paths can be:

Explorer - View - Folder Options - File Types
Explorer -Tools - Folder Options - FileTypes
Start - Settings - Folder Options - File Types
Start - Settings - Control Panel - Folder options - File Types

Then there is also this method:
1. Choose the app you want to use for the file and locate it (find its
folder).
2. Select (highlight) file icon and Shift + Right Click.
3. Click on "Open with . . . "
3. If your chosen app is in the list, click on it; if not, Browse to it
in the file structure and click on it. Be sure not to check the box marked
"Always use this program to open this type of file"
4. Click again and your chosen app should open the file you started with..
5. If this process does what you want, repeat all steps and this time check
the box "Always use . . . "

To disassociate the program:
Use the D-Arrow to slowly scroll the list from the "File Types" (of Folder
Settings options), all the while looking for that file type to appear at
"Extension:" At long last, while it is highlighted, click "Remove". If the
extension is, for instance, ".xyz" you may first quickly scroll the list &
look for "XYZ File". Remove that one.

No, that isn't the trick -- I should have been more explicit
and explained this is an IE only problem.

Windows (regular Explorer) associations are fine -- it's
just IE helper application that is wrong.

There much be an easy way (equivalent to the Explorer
options you suggested) to change this in IE, for otherwise
I am going to have to edit the GUI-classids.

Problem is that if you click a file locally WinAmp (or whatever)
runs just fine but if you use an HTML URL then (stupid)
QuickTime opens in the IE browser.

Clearly this can be changed by manually tracking down the
classid and chaning the MIME types.
