IE 6 does not remember my default home page

SteveDaly

I can set my default home page. Apply then ok. I can
click on the home page icon and that works.

I can close IE and reopen. My defined home page is
displayed. If I close IE and reopen a second time, my
home page is gone and I have the following in the URL
line: res://mshp.dll/index.html#22776

I am using Win XP on a brand new HP Media Center PC.
Please help.

First eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

Note: this type hijack indicates an unpatched machine, that is lacking
in "Defense". Please visit Windows Update to avoid these exploits.
