I want to use Microsoft's Anti Spyware again

I was a fan of Microsoft's Anti Spyware until my (working) version expired
7/31/05. Once I updated to the new version I could no longer use the program.
I have tried to update the installation, uninstalled and reinstalled each
new release a half dozen times each but it has not helped. The summary page
always shows the same information: no scans run, scan scheduled for January
1, 2004, 12:00 AM, definitions 00/00/0000 (version 12), and the message in
the message center box: lblMCText. I can't schedule a scan (it does nothing
when I try to save), get automatic updates (the update always shows no new
updates available), automatic scans never run, and I can't change any
options. It is almost like the program never completely installs and I am
left with just a hollow shell instead of a working a program. I know this is
not how it is suppose to work but I am at a lost to correct it once and for
all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi bmacomley:

Download and install Ccleªner
http://www.ccleaner.com/download124.asp

Reboot to Safe Mode

Please ensure you are doing this under a Administrator accºunt

Clear prefetch files by going to Start menu and Run and typing

prefetch

and then click OK.

Go to C:/drive > Program Files and delete the MSAS fºlder

Goto Start Menu then search and select all files and folder's Search for
these files and delete them (They will be in system32)

gcUnCompress.dll
GCCollection.dll
hashlib.dll

Open Ccleaner and press "Run Cleaner" from the menu choose 'Issues' and
then press scan for issues, Repair any fºund.

Rebººt

Download MSAS again and choose to save file NOT run it from MS. After
download run setup.
Also turn off any AntiVirus utility you might have installed before
attempting
installatiºn.
