i suspect this may be a registry question, is there an XP registry forum?

anyway, i just installed sp2, it had problems doing so, and i had to reset
my security rights to the registry before it ever finished. but things
seemed to be working ok, until earlier today when i tried to print.

when i select the 'print' menu choice from all programs i have tested so
far, xp goes off into never-never land showing an hourglass and i have to
kill the program. i tested notepad, image viewer, paintshop pro and even my
printer folder.

if i drag a file to the printer, it seems to do the printjob ok, but having
to drag & drop is a bit of a drag instead of choosing print while in a
program.

anyone, run into this or think of how to correct it?
