To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.

The same thing happened to me. I added the News command to the menu bar and
my suscribed news groups showed up on the screen. I then did some work then
closed down the computer. When I came back I clicked the news command and got
some folder and the news groups did not show up. I then deleted the command
and now cannot find it. What should I do?

Do what I already posted.
You haven't done that yet.

I have done it now and I was able to delete the News command then reinstall
it on the menu bar. The same thing happens, when I click on the news command
all it brings up is a folder on my C: drive, I do not get the news reader or
a list of my subscribed news groups. If you have any other suggestions I
would appreciate it. I just want to see the news groups on Outlook. Thanks

The trick is that you have to disable the option to be the default
newsreader in Outlook Express while enabling that same option in Control
Panel.
You'll always be using OE for news, however. Outlook is not a news reader.
