The News menu command is no longer available on the Go menu in Outlook. The
News menu command cannot be added by customizing either the toolbars or
menus.

I found Article ID:235505 but this is for IE5

The visibility of the news command is different from this article.
Select Go (no News)
Select any item
Select Go (no News)
Loop:
Select any item Different from the previous item
Select Go (News visible)
GoTo Loop:

If an item is selected consecutively, News is hidden. Selecting different
items, say Mail and Calendar alternately, News remains in the list.

To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.

Done this and now the News command in the Go menu seems stable.

I set the OEx entry in CP as suggested, rebooted and the News item
disappeared again. The OEx entry in CP was blank, so had to set it again.
Rebooted a few times now and all seems OK.

In an effort to solve the problem while waiting for a reply, I followed the
article above and edited registry :-}

Added \outnews to the item -:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Clients\News\Outlook
Express\Protocols\news\shell\open\command

The only change I've noticed is the I can't set "When starting, go directly
to my Inbox folder." I suppose \outnews sets OEx as a newsreader only?

Reread my post. Notice that you must set OE NOT to be the default in the
application itself--only set it to be the default in Control Panel. You
probably have not done that first part yet.

Sending this via GO>News>OEx newsreader. So all working fine. <Sigh of
relief>
Thanks
