I have trouble installing CD R/RW driver CDD4401/71

I was using Compaq Preario 7597 with WIn 98. I have a cD Rom drive & a
CD R/RW drive CDD 4401/71- Philips. Recently I upgraded to win 200. Now
I am unable to use my CD R/Rw drive. I tried to laod the drive
softwares from internet but nothing seems to work. Still my device
driver considers the cD R drive as CD rom drive. It does not accept the
new driver.

I tried the regedit as per Microsift knowledge base article but there
is no registry folder for cds so I can not use that.

Is there any solution to this?

Youve visited Compaq site and downloaded chipset and other win2k drivers for
your sys.
There is also I believe a Firmware update for this drive.
Checked Philips site?
