After reformating my hardrive and installing Windows XP, I
can no longer write data to CD-Rs or CD-RWs (though I can
read them) with my Philips CDD3610 CD-R/RW drive. Copying
files to the cd-r/rw drive in XP leads to the error message
"E:/ is not accessible. Incorrect function." When I check
properties:hardware for the drive says that it is
functioning properly and has drivers from Microsoft:
cdrom.sys, imapi.sys, redbook.sys, and storprop.dll. I
cannot find driver updates with the hardware update wizard
and windows update. Is microsoft only able to provide
generic CDROM drivers for this drive, and not any that
recognize it as CD-R/RW?
Before the upgrade, I used Easy CD Creator to burn CDs, but
the version I have on disk is incompatible with XP. I am
reluctant to spend money on new CD creating software, not
knowing if it will work with this somewhat old drive.
Philips does not seem to provide driver updates for the
CDD3610. Can anyone direct me to CD burning software or
drivers that are compatible?
