I fired Word...

I fired Word as my e-mail Editor because it can't get over its compulsive
spell-checking.

But I would really like to have a modicum of control over fonts. Bold,
underline and subscript would be enough.

How do I do this?

Thanks.

Yes it can. Uncheck the spelling options in Word *AND* in Outlook in
Tools-Options-Spelling. Then you can use Word but not have the spelling
check all the time.

Format your messages using HTML.

Thanks, Gordon.

I wasn't specific enough.

I DO want what I actually write to be spell-checked; just not the original
message that I'm replying to and not e-mail addresses.

In Outlook in Tools-Options-Spelling there's an option to "Ignore original
message text in Reply or Forward". Are you saying that doesn't work?

Yes, that's lovely. But now it spell-checks the original.
Just stop using Word as your editor in Outlook. Use Outlook's editor. If you
use HTML format for your messages, you will be able to change fonts, colors,
etc. in your messages. You don't need Word for Outlook.

Actually, it won't.

As long as "Use Word to read RichText messages" is selected, the original
message will be spell-checked.

Thru all of this (and this has been posted in two places), it has been
checked, and no suggested solution has worked.

I just unchecked it, and Voila!

Apparently, as long as it was checked, if (1) I was using anything except
Plain Text as my outgoing format, and (2) if the original message was in
RichText, Word was assigned to read [and spell-check] the original message.
And we all know that PlainText does not allow the font formatting that I need.

So, my solution is to select HTML as my outgoing format, and to de-select
"Use Word to Read RichText.†This allows me to have full font formatting,
and for my selection of "do not spell-check original message in replies and
forwards" to be activated.

Whew!

Thanks for your prodding to make me re-test everything.

Thanks for your help, Brian. Read my last post to "SgtRich," below - it
explains why just using HTML didn't work.

Thanks for your help, Gordon. Read the rest of the my exchanges, below,
especially my last post to SgtRich to see why that didn't work.
