I cant hear sound!

Help! my computer will not make sound anymore! I installed a program, and it
wouldnt work, so I uninslalled it and it still wouldnt work, so i checked
all my programs and found a new one called SoundMAX, and I deleted and, and
the sound worked again, but stupid me, i wanted to play that game so I
reinstalled it (sound went off again), and yet again uninstalled SoundMAX but
the sound was still off so i uninstalled the game and nothing happened.
Thinking maybe it was the order i did it in, i reinstalled then uninstalled
the game and then SoundMAX. No Help! So i came here, PLEASE HELP

You deleted SoundMax and still had sound? That makes me think the game possibly
installed a codec and corrupted you audio device. SoundMax is audio software that is
provided with Intel motherboards and others with integrated chips.

What shows in Device Manager for your Sound device?
Are there any conflicts present with the audio device if it's still listed?
Are there any "Other" or "Unknown" listed in DM?

Are you using an add-on sound card or is it integrated audio? If integrated, what
is the:
Manufacturer/make/of your machine?
