capturing audio with sound recorder

Hi there.

I've got a question about Sound Recorder. In the past, I could use it to
capture the audio the computer was playing (so that's not a mic or anything).
Now, I have a new computer, so I don't know how to get it to capture the
audio again (I'm trying to record some voice samples from a game). I've been
fumbling around with audio settings, but I can't seem to get Sound Recorder
to record any sound the computer is playing. I'm using windows XP home
edition, and my audio card is SoundMAX HD Audio. If anyone can help, it qould
be greatly appreciated!

Audacity is free and has a lot more options than Sound Recorder.

Thanks guys, but unfortunately none of them work. Whatever recorder I choose,
it doesn't record anything but silence. Again, it's not the recorder program
that seems to be the trouble, it's my computer's settings.
