I cannot open e-mail attachments

never had a problem opening e-mail attachments from my messages until
recently- if I save them then I can open

( 1 ). Do you have IE8 ?
If you don't know : Open Internet Explorer > Click HELP at the top > click
About Internet Explorer. What does the box say ?
( 2 ). If you do have IE8, UN-install it. It will revert back to IE7.
How do I uninstall or remove Internet Explorer 8?

Have you installed IE8?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed, is your
subscription current, and is it supported in IE8? What anti-spyware
applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)?
Were any of these applications running in the background when you installed
IE8?

Has a Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this machine
(e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)?

Is "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 7 for Vista (KB969897)"
listed in Installed Updates?

Just asking for now!! Do NOT use such a Restore Point yet!! => Do you have
an available Restore Point which predates the install of IE8?

NB: Uninstalling IE8 (cf. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700) should
resolve the behavior but you should not have encountered it in the first
place if IE8 was installed properly.

Have you definitely verified your IE version number by going to its Help, About?

If it does say IE7, then the only fix left to try is upgrading to Windows Live Mail:

Oef i found the real causes : it was my AVG 8.5 , email scanner was inactive
and corrupt ! After an update was it OK ! I reinstal IE8 and also there no
problem more !
