Cannot save or open attachments in WinMail

I have not been able to open or save attachments in Winmail for a long time.
I've rebooted, shut down my firewall, closed my e-mail virus scanner - I
don't know what else to do. When WinMail compressed files the first time
after I got my new computer, I have had this problem. I can open attachments
and save them from my Yahoo e-mail account just fine. My work e-mail is all
right, too. What can I do to help this proglem? I am running Windows Vista
OS.

That type of problem is usually caused by interference from a non-
compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:
