I am just about ready to give up - HELP!

I just got a new Dell Laptop with Vista Home Premium. I am having problems
sharing the Vista C drive with my other XP Pro desktop. I did not want to
set up separate accounts with passwords. I have read items in the newsgroups
and read web pages explaining how to do this. Everything appears to be set
correctly but it doesn't work. I can see my Vista C drive from my XP machine
but cannot access it. I can see and access my shared Vista folders from XP.
I can see and access everything from Vista on my XP Pro machine. Please tell
me if I missed something.

Network set as Private

Network discovery on

Workgroups are all the same

File sharing on

Public folder sharing on

Password protected sharing off

Went to Computer and right clicked on the C drive and selected Share

Went into Advanced Sharing and checked share this folder

The share name is C

Went into permissions - Group user name is Everyone. Checked box Full
Control.

Clicked OK OK

The C folder displays as shared

I also went into Security tab and granted permissions

When I try to access the Vista C drive I get an error message saying I might
not have permission to use this network resource. I have tried turning off
the fire walls and disabling my Virus programs and still no luck. Any help
will be appreciated.

Solved it! I've had the exact same problem for 6 months.

On the Vista machine select 'share...' on the the folder you want to
share over the network.
Open the top drop-down box and select 'Guest' then click 'add' then
select 'co-owner' on the permission drop-down. Click Done.
If you now go to the XP machine you will be able to access that folder
over the network. That simple!
NOTE. It only seems to work on folders rather than a whole drive, so
just create a root folder and put everything in it you want to see.

Hope it works for you. It's been driving me mad! I stumbled across the
answer by trial and error.

Thank you for the feedback. FYI, it is no recommended to enable guest
account for the security reason. This post may help.
