I am an idiot

Ok, so I am bad at acronyms. But what does RTM mean? Also, I'm running
version 5600 of RC1 Vista Ultimate. Is this an "RTM" version? And can I just
upgrade it with the Vista Premium upgrade? I realy don't have the money,
need, or desire for Ultimate.

Build 6000 is the RTM code (release to manufacture).

Personally, I would never upgrade over a beta build of an operating system.

There are just too many chances for a gottcha to cause problems.

You can buy the upgrade version of Home Premium,
but you will have to do a clean install. Or, you
can purchase an Ultimate upgrade version and do an
in place upgrade.

Hi,

You can upgrade to Ultimate only, as any other version is a step down. Also,
you must use a full version, as the Release Candidates are not qualifying
products to use for an upgrade.

There are no product discounts specifically for participants in the Customer Preview Program;
however, because you are using a pre-release version of Windows Vista Ultimate, you can
purchase and use the Upgrade version of Windows Vista.

Yes they are. There was a recent post in this newsgroup about that. I'll try
to find the link to the MS info, or maybe someone else will post it before
me.

My understanding at the time of RTM is that they would not, but things
change. Nick would likely know more than I. Personally, I'm glad to see this
news as it means CPP participants will essentially get Ultimate at a
significant discount, regardless of whether or not they upgraded an XP
system previously.
