HP DESKJET 3820 Problem

J

JI

I've tried all trouble shooting suggestions to no
avail. This is the problem: No printing. Ink carriage moves all the way to
the left. Paper feeds all the way through,(no printing occurs)very slowly.
Carriage then moves to right. It stops all the way to the right and then the
bottom two lights begin to blink. Also, when I open the cover of printer
nothing happens.

Please advise.
Thanks.

Hi,

this is a known problem on 3820 printers - the gearweel in the
servicestation is broken. While this part is defect the force back to
the DC drive misses and the printer can not initialise the right way.
I have about 20 of these printers, all with the same problem ;(. There
are no spare parts available from HP. Sorry to tell you this, but I
think you have to buy a new one.

Bye Joe

Sometimes, especially when connected via USB,and you were using the printer
assistant, the printer can go completely crazy, with the syymptoms mentioned, plus
VERY alarming ack-ack sounds coming from it and the driver reporting a broken
USB connection.
In such a case I shut down the PC.Then Cut power to the printer(not the
soft-off button).Re-power and wait if the printer goes into proper standby with
no LED alarms(may have to be repeated). Finally cut power again to reset the
printer´s controller.
