how to remove some toolbars that were installed by a popup someone clicked on

jeff

I have this stupid toolbar on my IE browser and cannot get
it to go away permanantly. Is there some registry
variable set or something. I go into view - toolbars and
go to unselect it and it is only listed as a blank entry
(mine has standard - address - links - radio - _BLANK
one_ - and customize) the blank one I can unselect and it
goes away until I start up IE again and then it is back.
I guess I would also like to know if there is any way of
disabling the ability for some popups that people (not
myself of course) click on to be able to modify my IE
properties. I even had one that changed my homepage and
then disabled in the registry the possibility of changing
the homepage (it was greyed out as the variable in the
registry was set to 1 instead of 0. tricky people, huh?)

thanks for the help

You *must* seek updates for Ad-Aware, Spybot, etc., before each and every
use, even "right out of the box". But even then, they can't catch
everything. HijackThis
(http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred
tool to use these days. It will help to both identify and remove any
hijackware/spyware. **Post your files to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/,
not here.**

Also update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From
now on, do both daily.
