How to register Defender with Secirity Center?

X

XPUpdated

When I installed Defender it asked me to remove Live One Care first that has
registered with Windows Security Center as the antivirus program. After the
Defender was installed the Security Center now shows up warnlling me I do not
have a antivirus program installed. I assume Defender is replacing the Live
One Care acting as the antivirus program. Am I right? If so, it should
register it self as the antivirus program with the Security Center like Live
One Care did. If I am wrong and Defender is not designed as an antivirus
program, why it asks to remove the antivirus program -Live One Care?? In
other words, if it does not do the job, why does it require to remove the
program who can do the job?

Can any one explain?

This was the wrong choice, I'm afraid. Windows Live OneCare includes the
functionality of Windows Defender, and disables Windows Defender when
installed.
And that's the way you should leave things.

I think you should run a repair reinstall of Windows Live OneCare to
straighten this out.
