Defender fails as can't find MSVCR80.dll file

Defender not updating to 1.14.1410.10 tried previous rescue advise from
earlier update failures from support.microsoft as effecting also Windows One
Care Live as also part of this system. Finally tried futile remove & reload
Defender but still get the same message "Failed to find MSVCR80.dll" and
fails to load Defender.Mutiple attempts all ended up with same message.
Question do I now have to unload "Windows One Care Live" program to fix
DEFENDER Beta trial system?

To resolve this error, delete \program files\windows
defender\MSASCui.exe.manifest

That solved my update problem as well. Strange however as I had already once
removed this already and it came back in again. But success at last - Thank

Thanks--glad to hear that it resolves both problems. It'd be nice to be
able to know when this is the issue behind an update problem without asking
the user to attempt removing and reinstalling. Will consider posting this
advice more frequently.
(i.e. delete the manifest file.)
