Go to Start | All Programs | Accessories

Open Windows Explorer Properties

Append C:\ to the end of the "Target", leaving a space between explorer.exe
and the appended C:\

Save and close Properties. Now when you open Windows Explorer (using this
particular shortcut, it will open to the "root" of your C: partition/drive.

right click windows explorer and open properties. On the Target line
you will see something like this:
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,g:\mikes The /e means explore then you
have the drive and directory. Change yours as you see fit.
