How to make "shutdown" command work?

According to the docs, I should be able to type
"shutdown -r -f -m \\renderbox -t 60 -d up:125:1"
at a commandline to shut down \\renderbox remotely, but on my LAN of WinXP
Home machines, this always fails with "Access is denied".

How do I make it work? The machines have no admin passwords (not connected
to the outside world, they're just render machines).

Any help much appreciated.

It probably is failing because you are not using passwords. Network access
by default require that a password be used. You can change that [if you
really want to] on the target computer in Local Security Policy/local
policies/security options - accounts: limit local account use of blank
passwords to console logon only. --- Steve
